![]() ![]() I also read something about creating a new account and moving or deleting certain files in safe mode so that a setup comes up at login for the new account, but no idea where I found this now (!)ĭeleting cache files in safe mode (seems to be ill advised so haven't done this) I'm guessing this is the most difficult option, but was wondering if the reports held any clues (as I am clueless as to how to see what the problem is) I'm torn between a few different options I found:įinding the bad preference file. I've tried First Aid in Disk Utility in recovery mode, no change. At first, anyway! They also crash on other accounts, seemingly if I am logged in to the original account at the same time (though I need to test and see if this is the case, or if it is after some time or something like that)Īnother possibility could be that I logged into my iCloud on the second account - could the culprit file be being uploaded from the cloud once I log in to and sync iCloud stuff? This would apply to the second account and not the guest account, though, I assume - and I have reproduced it in the guest account when I haven't logged out of the main account. I also created another user account and again, just fine. I have tried to open them in a Guest account and they work just fine. It's only affecting OneDrive and Anki so far, as far as I know they are both Apple Silicon apps and it doesn't matter if they're from the App Store or not (Anki is not on the App Store, but I have tried the version of OneDrive from the Microsoft webpage after uninstalling the App Store version) It is affecting at least 2 apps that I have noticed so far, so hopefully having two reports will make it easier to diagnose? Maybe not. I'm having trouble working out why certain apps are crashing (OneDrive quit unexpectedly) when I am trying to open them and possible solutions I've done a bit of research first but not sure about which would be the best way to go about it. Possible user account problem: certain apps crashing as soon s they are opened (Anki, OneDrive) Hello, If I try go to Sys Prefs > Internet Accounts > iCloud and uncheck iCloud Drive, it tells me "iCloud needs to finish updating before being turned off" and shows a progress bar with maybe 1% progress - even though it's now been an hour since I logged back in. (By the time I finished writing this, the progress icon had disappeared.) When I mouseover that icon, it gives me an (i) info icon, but clicking it does absolutely nothing. The syncing-progress icon next to iCloud Drive in the sidebar shows maybe 2%, and does not change. I can add files and folders to the iCloud Drive in my Finder, and they appear on, but everything else I can see on is not. The files are are still there at, but everything has disappeared locally (screenshot below). Logged out/in of Apple ID, now my iCloud is empty After logging out of my Apple ID because there was a notice in Sys Prefs > Apple ID that I had to do so to reactivate something or another, when I logged back in, the iCloud Drive on my computer is completely empty - even though when given the "If you turn off iCloud Drive, all documents stored in iCloud will be removed from this Mac" pop-up during logout, I selected to "Keep a Copy" the files in iCloud Drive. I have had no "Suggestd quit unexpectedly" alerts since trying this work-around. This took a while on my rural internet Maybe this would take less time if I chose "Keep a copy" earlier in the operation? I don't know. Meanwhile the computer downloaded/sync'd the iCloud data it needed to store locally. The Apps were already selected for iCloud syncing - but I audited/unselected a few unused apps. I then Restarted the computer and signed back into my iCloud account. I got a window asking - Do you want to keep a copy of your iCloud data on this Mac before signing out? I unselected the icon(s) and then the button changed to say "continue" instead of "Keep a copy" - I clicked "continue" - and after a bit of lalala time the window disappeared and I was signed out. Unselected all the app syncing (except I left iCloud Drive and Photos as they were) ![]() Recently (2022) I started getting repeated "Suggestd quit unexpectedly" alerts and finally found a fix that actually worked. ![]()
